‘The Beasts’ has been the great winner of the 78th edition of the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos Awards (CEC), by winning seven medals in the categories of film, direction (Rodrigo Sorogoyen), actor (Denis Ménochet), actress (Marina Foïs), supporting actor (Luis Zahera), original script, photography, editing and music.
The gala, which was held at the Palacio de la Prensa in Madrid, also recognized the role of Albert Bosch in ‘You will‘, awarded with the award for revelation actor, while ‘Cinco Lobitos’ received two awards, the one for the supporting actress (Susi Sánchez) and the one for new director for Alauda Ruiz de Azúa.
In the category of best adapted screenplay, the CEC awarded the award to oriol paulo, Guillem Clau and Lara Sendim for his work in ‘The crooked lines of God’. In addition, it was recognized Laura Galan as a breakthrough actress for her work in ‘piggy’. Likewise, the organization has awarded the best animated feature film to ‘Tadeo Jones 3. The Emerald Table’ and the foreign film medal has gone to ‘Argentina, 1985’. The trophy for the documentary has been for ‘El crítico’, a portrait of Carlos Boyero.
One of the stars of the gala has been Antonio Banderas receiving the CEC Medal of Honor 2023 for his career. Other winners have been Carlos del Amor with the CEC prize for journalistic work, while Cruz Delgado Sánchez received the title for Literary work.
On the other hand, the medal was awarded for the work of promoting cinema to Maria Jose Perez and Albert Sestayo,for years press officers of the film distributor Entertainment One. The Educa Platinum Medal of Solidarity (Fiction) was received by the film ‘Vasil’, by Avelina Prat, for its “solidarity vision of the reception of an immigrant, both deep and fun”, according to the Board of Directors of the CEC.
The Educa Platinum Medal of Solidarity (Non-fiction) went to the documentary ‘Here and now, life’by Manuel Serrano, for “his courageous and luminous portrayal of the drama of seriously ill children”.
