The CEO of Baloise, the Belgian Gert De Winter, will leave the company on June 30 at his own request. This has been announced by the Swiss insurance group.

De Winter, Baloise’s top man since 2016, had to temporarily step aside last year because he got cancer. His duties were then taken over by the general manager for Switzerland, the Swiss Michael Müller. He will become CEO of the group on July 1.

“The decision to leave Baloise was not an easy one,” says De Winter in a press release. “However, in light of the events in my personal life over the past twelve months, I am convinced that the time has come to re-prioritize my life.”
