The time period of President Ram Nath Kovind ends on July 24 and an election for the next president is to be held before that day.
The Presidential election might be hung on July 18 and the counting of votes, if required, may be performed on July 21, the Election Commission announced on Thursday. The remaining date of nomination has been set for June 29, the ballot panel stated at a press convention held at 3 pm to announce the time table. The time period of President Ram Nath Kovind ends on July 24 and an election for the subsequent president is to be held before that day. The new president needs to be sworn in via July 25.
“A total of four,809 electors to vote inside the Presidential elections 2022. No political birthday celebration can problem a whip to its individuals,” said chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar.
The president is elected by the votes forged by way of the Electoral College, inclusive of 776 individuals of Parliament (participants of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha mixed) and four,033 participants of the legislative assemblies, with a total of four,809 votes being cast.
