British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has asked for an audit of the effectiveness of British aid to Ukraine. This is reported by the BBC, citing sources from the BBC Newsnight program. According to them, the British Prime Minister asked to evaluate how much and what was invested in helping Ukraine and what result was achieved.

The news has caused concern among members of the government, who are in favor of unconditional support for Ukraine.

“Wars are not won by auditing. Wars are won by instinct. Earlier this year, Boris Johnson said: let’s just do it. So Rishi needs to direct his inner Boris in foreign policy to support Ukraine and nothing else,” says one of the interlocutors BBC newsnight.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, sources say, is aware of these fluctuations. He talked to Sunak and said that Britain’s support is extremely important to Ukraine.

Recall that Great Britain is one of the main supporters of Ukraine in this war. In 2022, it has provided at least £2.3bn for weapons and other assistance. At the same time, Britain, after the pandemic and the war, is experiencing one of the worst economic crises in recent years. Inflation in the country will exceed 10% by the end of 2022.
