On Saturday, January 14, the Russian military carried out artillery shelling of several settlements in the Donetsk region, including Avdiivka, Kurakhovka and Staraya Nikolaevka, UNIAN reports.

As a result of the shelling, five people were killed, five more were injured of varying severity.

The report of the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office said: “According to the investigation, on January 14, 2023, the troops of the aggressor state once again fired at the residential areas of the city of Avdeevka, the village of Kurakhovka and the village of Staraya Nikolaevka of the Ilyinovskaya OTG of the Kramatorsk district. As a result of the attack by the invaders, 5 people were killed, 5 more were injured of varying severity.”

Damage was also recorded to residential buildings, garages, utility buildings and cars. The prosecutor’s office began pre-trial investigations in criminal proceedings on violations of the laws and customs of war (parts 1, 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
